If you're reading Sovereignty's Website for the first time, then you might be wondering what we are all about. This page is intended to locate our Website within the wider context of our Belief, Purpose and Work at Sovereignty -- that is, to explain what we believe, what we intend to achieve, and what we're doing to get there!
We encourage you to subscribe and support us in our valuable activity.
WHAT WE ARE
SOVEREIGNTY is an independent Advocacy Group, Think-Tank and Democracy Watchdog, based in Glasgow, which campaigns on the theme of Self-Determination -- National, Local, Personal, and which publishes a monthly 8-page hard-copy Journal which is available on subscription, and a Website of the same name.
OUR PURPOSE
We are committed to the consciousness-raising principle of Free Speech, Debate and Enquiry, and we aim to Communicate, Educate and Influence, and to this end...
WHAT WE DO WE PUBLISH a monthly 8-page hard-copy Journal which is available on subscription, and a professional and regularly updated Website: around which we explore topics, develop and advocate Principles, and publicise and campaign for Policies, based on the theme of Self-Determination -- at a National, Local and Personal level -- including:
National Self-Determination -- out the EU, and into the World
Sovereign Association for the Nations of Europe -- SANE, not EU
Popular Democracy -- not Plutocracy
Economic Democracy -- not Debt Slavery
Localisation -- not Globalisation
Energy Independence -- not Dependence
Food Sovereignty -- not Food Poverty. We advocate further related principles including Natural Farming, Animal Welfare, Pastoralism, Bio-diversity, Urban Farming, Permaculture, Opposition to Corporate Control, and Solidarity with Farmers Internationally.
WE CAMPAIGN for our principles and policies. For example:
• We communicate and educate nationally and internationally, raising awareness and teaching, including providing information for students, and promoting, protesting and correcting information where appropriate, through a variety of media.
• We develop philosophy and policy for the sovereignty movement, and interested parties, in a concise, consistent, coherent, accessible, easily understood and usable manner.
• We provide arguments and rebuttals for the sovereignty movement, and interested parties.
• We work to influence national and international political debate and policy-making.
• We lobby politicians and opinion formers.
• We provide a readily available and easily accessible source of information for the public, schools, politicians and the media, and access to our resources, library, cuttings archive and bookshop.
• We provide speakers for schools, public meetings and media events.
• We provide participants, and help co-ordinate participants, for television, radio and newsprint interviews, panels and audiences, and for public meetings.
• We publicise worthwhile events and initiatives.
• We work with others to promote our shared principles and policies, liasing with like-minded individuals and groups in the UK and overseas.
• We advise others on how best to promote our shared principles and policies.
• We bring people together.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
We seek to generate fresh debate and to bring it into a coherent, comprehensive and concise Context and Vision. We are solution-orientated, not gloom-mongers. We report activity not reported elsewhere. We concentrate on what can be done to make things better.
Sovereignty's independent status enables us to address many issues related around the theme of Self-Determination, including anti-EU politics, free speech, democracy, constitutionalism, localised economics, monetary reform, energy independence, food, farming, ecology, population policy and migration issues from a unique perspective not bound by any party-political line.
This enables us, and our distributors, to reach out to new people who would not otherwise hear our positive messages.
BECOME A SOVEREIGNTY REPORTER
Have you been at a meeting, a rally, or a lecture which you thought should have been attended by more people, or you just wished that more people could have been there to hear the message.
Well, you can make that happen, by simply becoming a Sovereignty reporter.
We can publish the report in our monthly 8-page Journal, or on our Website, or on both, and your work can be read potentially by thousands of people. Our readers want to hear about the purpose of the event, who was there, and what was said, specifically the best and most telling points that we need to know.
Please send us your report in any format, including hand written notes -- although electronic is quickest for us. We can use photographs sent to us digitally, or by post -- we will scan them and return forthwith.
We are always looking for people who would like to be published and who can address our core subjects, as above, or who can do book reviews, healthy lifestyle columns and cultural reviews. We can edit to fit 800-1200 words per page in our Journal to a maximum of two pages. Please send us your submissions, or ideas, using the contact information below.
Please note:
