WHAT IS THE INDIGENOUS WHITE BRITISH
POPULATION OF LONDON, AND ENGLAND AND WALES?

Recent reports have told us that ethnic "minority" groups outnumber white people in the London Boroughs of Newham and Brent. But this is not the full story. Clive Wakley points out that the "white" category in the Census includes non-indigenous groups such as Kosovans, Bosnians, Moldovans, Roma, Turks, and Cypriots. Here, he considers what proportion of London's population are actually indigenous white Britons of English, Irish, Scottish, or Welsh ancestry. He tells us that if you want to list those London Boroughs in which indigenous white Britons (ie English, Irish, Scots and Welsh) are in a minority then you have to add Tower Hamlets, Hounslow, Harrow, Hackney, Haringey and others to the Boroughs of Newham and Brent.

How the Government has deliberately misrepresented the results of the 2001 Census to minimalise the extent of the non-indigenous colonisation of Britain
By Clive Wakley

The Census of 2001 was conducted in April of that year and sought to solicit data enabling an in-depth and comprehensive profile of Britain and its people to be constructed for a variety of uses. This article devotes itself to the Government's misuse of Census derived demographic data for the purposes of deliberately misleading the public, and the media, as to the real extent of the non-indigenous colonisation of Britain.

Census 2001: Question 8 "What is your ethnic group?"
This question on the Census form instructed respondents to "Choose one section from A to E, then tick the appropriate box to indicate your cultural background." People were then provided with the five options as follows:

(A) White
British ( ), Irish ( ), Any other White background ( )

(B) Mixed
White & Black Caribbean ( ), White & Black African ( ), White & Asian ( ), Any other Mixed background ( )

(C ) Asian or Asian British
Indian ( ), Pakistani ( ), Bangladeshi ( ), Any other Asian background ( )

(D) Black or Black British
Caribbean ( ), African ( ), Any other Black background

(E) Chinese or other ethnic group
Chinese ( ), Other ethnic Group ( )

The Office of National Statistics (ONS)
Following collation the results of the 2001 Census were published on the website of the ONS at www.statistics.gov.uk/census2001/default.asp which, in turn, utilised a linked website http://neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk to provide detailed statistics on a "national to ward" basis. In other words the detailed statistical returns from every ward in every local authority area in England and Wales were made available for public viewing on the linked site.

Strangely, or perhaps not so strange to those familiar with Government spin and deceit, the detailed statistics relating to ethnicity are presented in an illogical, misleading and, in some respects, meaningless manner.

Take, for instance, Central ward in Slough -- this is representative in format to all the other thousands of wards that comprise that part of the ONS Census 2001 database available for public scrutiny.

Population Central Slough England
White 37.0 63.7 90.9
... of which White Irish 1.7 2.1 1.3
Mixed 2.4 2.3 1.3
Asian or Asian British 52.8 27.9 4.6
Indian 21.2 14.0 2.1
Pakistani 29.0 12.1 1.4
Bangladeshi 0.3 0.1 0.6
Other Asian 2.4 1.7 0.5
Black or Black British 6.7 5.1 2.1
Caribbean 3.5 2.9 1.1
African 3.0 1.9 1.0
Other Black 0.3 0.2 0.2
Chinese or Other Ethnic Group 1.0 1.0 0.9
Source: 2001 Census, ONS

Note how the statistics are presented in the same format as Census question 8 -- with the exception of data pertaining to that ethnic group described as "White".

Unlike the Asian and Black classifications which still retain their detailed Census 2001 sub-divisions, those sub-divisions of the major class "White" have disappeared and been replaced by the curious formula "White X% of which White Irish Y%". In other words the sub category "Other White" has been removed and its values incorporated into the "White" category. Why? Read on and the deceit will become evident.

What is "Other White"?
"Other White" covers a great diversity of peoples. It includes all people who are in the country legally or in the process of claiming asylum and who consider themselves White eg EU nationals, Poles, Russians , Lithuanians, Bosnians, Serbs, Kosovans, Rumanians, Albanians, Moldavians, Colombians, Cypriots etc. It also includes other, perhaps not so obvious ethnic groups, such as Armenians, Turks, Iraqis, Kurds and Roma Gypsies (of which we are going to hear a great deal more next year when they are given legal right of entry to the UK as part of EU enlargement).

So why are "White" statistics treated differently from "Black" and "Asian"?
Very simple -- to mask the extent of the non-indigenous colonisation of Britain. What we want to know is the size of the "Non Indigenous" population ie those who are not English, Scots, Welsh or Irish. And this is the information that the Government is desperate to conceal through the manipulation of Census data.

Ask Joe Average, in the street, what he understands the term "White" to mean and he will almost certainly reply, "English, Welsh, Irish and Scots". The Government is fully aware of this common understanding of the term and has taken advantage of this to create a highly misleading demographic profile of Britain -- at least in as far as the extent of non-indigenous colonisation is concerned.

Some examples of Government Census distortion at Local Authority level
Although a substantial number of local authority websites have Census 2001 data available the majority of these link to the misleading Government ONS database -- where the figures for "Other White" are, as previously described, masked by incorporation into the "White" category. However there are exceptions -- at least when it comes to reporting at Borough (rather than ward) level.

Note: In the examples that follow the term "Indigenous Brits" refers to the native peoples of the geographical British Isles and not just to the United Kingdom.

(1) The London Borough of Hackney
* The Government's ONS data reveals: 59% "White" (of which 3% "White Irish") and therefore, by simple calculation, 41% "Non-White".

* Hackney Council website: 44% "White British", 3% "White Irish", 12% "Other White" and therefore, by simple calculation, 41% "Non-White".

In other words -- according to the Government's ONS the London Borough of Hackney is predominantly "White" but according to the underlying source Census data presented on Hackney Council's website "Indigenous Brits" (White British and Irish) are a minority in the borough!

(2) The London Borough of Camden
* The Government's ONS data reveals: 73% "White" (of which 5% "White Irish") and therefore, by simple calculation, 27% "Non-White".

* Camden Council website: 53% "White British", 5% "White Irish", 15% "Other White" and therefore, by simple calculation, 27% "Non-White".

In other words -- the Government's ONS claim that Camden is predominantly "White" is in marked contrast to Camden Council's website which shows that "Indigenous Brits" are only just in the majority in the borough (58% to 42%)!

(3) The London Borough of Islington
* The Government's ONS data reveals: 76% "White" (of which 6% "White Irish") and therefore, by simple calculation, 24% "Non-White".

* Islington Council website: 57% "White British", 6% "White Irish", 13% "Other White" and therefore, by simple calculation, 24% "Non-White".

In other words - a big difference between the Government's ONS figure of 76% "White" and Islington Council's source Census figure of 63% for "Indigenous Brits"!

So what is the impact in London and in England and Wales?
The London Borough of Bexley provides a comprehensive set of statistics, taken from the 2001 Census for the Borough of Bexley, London, and England and Wales. The percentages are as follows:
(1) London
"White British" 59.8%
"White Irish" 3.1%
"White Other" 8.3%
"Non-White" 28.8%

In other words, according to Census 2001 statistics, London is 62.9% "Indigenous Brits" and 37.1% "Non-Indigenous".

(2) England and Wales
"White British" 87.0%
"White Irish" 1.3%
"White Other" 2.7%
"Non White" 9.0%

In other words, according to Census 2001 statistics, England and Wales is 88.3% "Indigenous Brits" -- 11.7% "Non-Indigenous".

The London, and England and Wales results are underestimates and over two years out of date:
It should be remembered that the Census 2001 totals do not include:
* forty years worth of illegal and, largely, non-white immigration prior to the Census.
* asylum seekers who "disappeared" having had their applications/appeals rejected prior to the Census.
* legal and illegal immigration (including asylum-seekers) who have arrived since the Census.
* Natural increase, the excess of births over deaths, since the Census.

An estimate for the above of 1,250,000 is considered reasonable, but is likely to be an underestimate. Such a figure, after a corresponding adjustment to the population of England and Wales, equates to a little over 2% of the population.

The "bottom line" therefore is that the indigenous population of England and Wales is somewhere in the region of 86.3% and the non-indigenous population is about 13.7% -- or approaching 1 in 7 of the populace!

The Government's ONS website provides an official figure of 9.1% for the "Non-White" population of England and Wales. This politically contrived value is much removed from the far more meaningful value of 13.7% for the size of the colonising non-indigenous population.
